Understand the Markings
The template includes a top and bottom label to help with correct placement.
Blue dots indicate seal support hole locations.
Two orange lines show where the hinges should be spaced apart.
Prepare the Template for Alignment
Cut out the areas labeled “cut on dotted line.”
This allows the template to align accurately with the lines drawn on the boards and the separation point between the two boards.
Position the Boards
Cut and arrange the boards into their final positions for the dam configuration.
Place the template on top of the boards, making sure all lines match up.
Tape the template in place to hold it steady.
Mark and Drill Hinge Holes
Place the hinges over the orange guideline labeled “top” and “bottom.”
Make sure the hinge knuckle is even with the line.
Mark the screw hole locations through the hinge.
Finish the Boards
Drill the holes at the marked points.
Paint each section of the boards, including inside the drilled holes, to seal and protect them.
