Drilling Holes - Wood

  • Use the correct drill bit for wood (pointed tip for precision).

  • Mark the spot with a pencil and create a guide dent with a nail or awl.

  • Start drilling at a slow speed to maintain control.

  • For deep holes, back out the bit occasionally to clear shavings and reduce heat.

  • Choose anchors or screws based on load—wood screws for light, wall anchors/toggle bolts for heavy.

  • Pre-drill pilot holes slightly smaller than the screw to prevent splitting.

  • Use a screwdriver or clutch-enabled drill to avoid over-tightening and stripping.
