Mounting To Wood

  • Use a stud finder to locate wall studs (typically 16 inches apart).

  • Avoid screwing into siding or outer planks—they lack strength.

  • Position the brackets or dam flush against the wall and level with the door frame.

  • Mark screw positions and drill pilot holes into the studs.

  • Use expansion anchors if the wall material is soft or compromised.

  • Install 3–5 inch lag bolts or structural screws using a socket wrench or power drill.

  • Apply silicone or polyurethane sealant around bracket contact points before tightening bolts.

  • Tighten all bolts securely and check for movement or gaps.

  • Seal any visible seams or suspected leaks with additional sealant.

  • Verify the dam is firmly in place and watertight.
