Use a stud finder to locate wall studs (typically 16 inches apart).
Avoid screwing into siding or outer planks—they lack strength.
Position the brackets or dam flush against the wall and level with the door frame.
Mark screw positions and drill pilot holes into the studs.
Use expansion anchors if the wall material is soft or compromised.
Install 3–5 inch lag bolts or structural screws using a socket wrench or power drill.
Apply silicone or polyurethane sealant around bracket contact points before tightening bolts.
Tighten all bolts securely and check for movement or gaps.
Seal any visible seams or suspected leaks with additional sealant.
Verify the dam is firmly in place and watertight.
