Garage Door

Caution – if there are cracks or uneven surfaces in the driveway floor, the dam cannot prevent water from seeping underneath the dam!

Garage Door Installation

Garage doors are usually mounted to a wood frame attached to the home’s interior wall. Follow these steps for installation:

  1. Measure and Notch:
    • For structure-mounted dams, measure from the garage door to the inside dam wall.
    • If needed, notch the rain guard to fit over both the structure and the door frame.
    • Measure the distance from the structure wall to where the door frame ends, and then from that point to the door itself to guide the notch.
  2. Cut and Leave Space:
    • Leave a ¼-inch gap between each side of the door and the rain guard to allow for rubber sealing.
  3. Frame-Mounted Dams:
    • Notching is generally unnecessary for frame-mounted installations.
  4. Apply Rubber Sealing:
    • Install a rubber strip seal that fits tightly and bows slightly upward under the rain guard.
  5. Secure the Guard:
    • Screw the rain guard into the dam’s internal support beam using wood screws. Ensure the guard stays below the top edge of the dam.
